Amorim after Sassuolo draw: “We cannot be satisfied if we don’t win”
Rúben Amorim made it clear that AC Milan could not be satisfied after being held to a draw by Sassuolo. Milan took the lead but were unable to protect their advantage, and after the match Amorim was particularly critical of the way his side conceded the equaliser. “We cannot be satisfied if we don’t win. We deserved to take the lead, but we cannot concede a goal from a corner like that.” The Milan coach also stressed the need for a stronger mentality after going ahead in matches. “It is a question of mentality. You score and then you have to continue playing the same way as before. We cannot turn the game into a match based on transitions.” Amorim also identified Milan’s attacking combinations as an area that still needs improvement. “We have to improve our combinations in the final third so that we can arrive in front of goal in better situations.” There was also concern regarding Matteo Gabbia, who suffered an injury during the match. Amorim was unable to provide a precise diagnosis immediately afterwards. “I still don’t know what type of injury it is, but Gabbia is a fundamental player for this group.” Milan will now have to analyse the dropped points against Sassuolo while also waiting for further information on Gabbia’s condition ahead of the upcoming fixtures.
