Cissé or Moreira? Amorim weighs his options ahead of Sassuolo
Rúben Amorim faces an interesting selection decision when AC Milan return to Serie A action after the international break. With Alexis Saelemaekers sidelined by a sprained right ankle, Alphadjo Cissé and Diego Moreira have emerged as the leading candidates to play alongside Christian Pulisic in the attacking midfield roles against Sassuolo on 11 October. Saelemaekers received encouraging results from his medical examinations, which ruled out both bone injuries and capsular-ligament damage. His condition will be assessed day by day, and a return against Sassuolo remains possible, although Milan are not expected to take unnecessary risks with his recovery. Cissé has made an impressive start to the campaign with two Serie A goals, while Moreira has been in particularly strong form. The Belgian scored twice against Lazio before finding the net again against Lecce, continuing his excellent start to life with the Rossoneri. Both players have also been nominated for Milan’s September Player of the Month award. Amorim therefore has several options ahead of Milan’s return to action. The picture should become clearer once the internationals return to Milanello and preparations for the Sassuolo match begin.
