Estupiñán suffers knee injury – could be sidelined for several weeks
AC Milan have been dealt another injury concern after Pervis Estupiñán picked up a knee problem while on international duty with Ecuador. The Ecuadorian Football Federation confirmed that medical examinations revealed a knee sprain involving the internal capsular-ligament structures. The medical information and test results have already been forwarded to AC Milan’s medical staff. Italian reports, including MilanPress and TuttoMercatoWeb citing Antonio Vitiello, indicate that Estupiñán has suffered a low-grade issue involving the medial collateral ligament in his left knee. He will undergo further assessment upon his return to Milanello. An absence of around two to three weeks has been suggested for this type of problem, although Milan have not yet confirmed an official recovery timetable. A clearer prognosis is expected after further examinations by the club. Estupiñán is therefore a major doubt for the Serie A match against Sassuolo on 11 October, while his availability for the Europa League clash with Salzburg on 15 October is also uncertain.
